What is an ISBN?

ISBN is an abbreviation for International Standard Book Number. Each ISBN is a unique identifier for a book or other book-like product that specifies its title, format, edition, and publisher. 

Where is the ISBN located on my book? 

ISBNs are typically located on the back of each book near the barcode and inside each book on the copyright page. 

What does an ISBN look like?

ISBNs are typically 13 digit (Ex. 9780357499764) or 10 digit (Ex. 035749976X) numbers. ISBNs are sometimes displayed with sections separated by hyphens (Ex. 978-03574-9976-4)

Are there new and used prices for every course material? 

The majority of course materials are available as new, used, and rental. There are some course materials such as access codes and workbooks that do not have a used or rental option since they cannot be reused.

How Many Classes Does One Code Cover?

One Cengage Unlimited (1-Term) code can be used for:

Multiple as long as they use Cengage and are within the same term

✅ You only pay once for Unlimited during that term.

How Access Works (Important Rules)

To make sure your access and grades work correctly:

You will use ONE Cengage account for all classes

You will redeem your Unlimited code ONE time only

You must access each class separately through Canvas

Do NOT try to add courses manually inside the Cengage website

**Canvas is always the starting point.

First Time Using Your Cengage Unlimited Code

This happens only once per term.

Log in to Canvas.

Open any class that uses Cengage.

Click the Cengage or MindTap link in the course.

Sign in or create your Cengage account (use your CBC/UCA email).

When prompted, choose Redeem Access Code.

Enter your Cengage Unlimited code.

🎉 Your Unlimited access is now active for the term.

Using Cengage Unlimited for Additional Classes

After your Unlimited code is activated:

Log in to Canvas.

Open the next class that uses Cengage.

Click the Cengage or MindTap link.

Sign in to your existing Cengage account.

When prompted, select Use Cengage Unlimited.

Repeat these steps for every Cengage class you are enrolled in.

🔔 Even though all courses appear in your Cengage dashboard, you must always launch them from Canvas so grades sync correctly.

What Cengage Unlimited Does NOT Do

It does not automatically add all your classes

It does not work if you bypass Canvas

It does not require you to enter the code again after first use

Common Problems & Easy Fixes

Being asked to pay again: Make sure you are logged into the same Cengage account and launched from Canvas.

Wrong course showing: Log out of Cengage, clear your browser cache, and re-launch from Canvas.

Grades not syncing: Access MindTap through the Canvas course link, not directly from Cengage.
