About Day One Access
Beginning in Fall 2026, Central Baptist College has partnered with Textbook Brokers to provide Day One Access - an equitable access course materials program. Every required textbook, courseware platform, lab manual, and workbook for every CBC course is delivered to students on or before the first day of class, through Canvas.
There is no shopping list and no hunting for the right edition. Materials are billed at one flat per-credit-hour rate directly to the student account.
Fall 2026 is the first term of the program. Every CBC student is enrolled automatically unless they choose to opt out by the deadline below. Digital materials open in Canvas on August 20, 2026.
What It Costs
The Day One Access charge is $21 per credit hour, plus applicable sales tax. It is assessed by Central Baptist College and appears on the student account as a course charge.
The rate is the same for every course. It is an average across all CBC classes, so it applies whether a particular class uses one book, several books, or no materials at all, and it does not change based on which courses a student registers for.
| Enrolled Credit Hours | Day One Access Charge |
|---|---|
| 3 hours | $63.00 + tax |
| 6 hours | $126.00 + tax |
| 9 hours | $189.00 + tax |
| 12 hours | $252.00 + tax |
| 15 hours | $315.00 + tax |
| 18 hours | $378.00 + tax |
Optional print add-ons, non-required supplemental items, and specialty lab kits are not included in the per-credit-hour charge and may be purchased separately.
How to Access Your Materials
All Day One Access materials are reached through Canvas. You only need to do this from one course. The platform shows you everything you are enrolled in. Materials become available on August 20, 2026; before that date your course list may appear empty.
Once you are in My Courses, the button on each item depends on what kind of material it is:
- eBooks: Click Read Now to open the book in the VitalSource Bookshelf reader. You can also install the Bookshelf app to read offline.
- Courseware (Cengage MindTap, McGraw Hill Connect, Pearson MyLab & Mastering, Hawkes Learning, Top Hat, and similar): Click Launch Courseware, or use the publisher's link inside your Canvas course. No access code purchase is required. Your enrollment is already paid for.
- Printed books, lab manuals, and workbooks: These are picked up on campus. See the pickup section below.
- Not sure what an item is? Click View Details on the item card for format and access instructions.
If a courseware item asks you to pay or enter an access code, stop and contact us before paying anything. That usually means you reached it outside of the Day One Access link, and we can help troubleshoot.
Printed Materials - Campus Pickup
Most Day One Access materials are digital, but some courses require a physical book, lab manual, or workbook. Students with printed materials will receive a separate email closer to the start of classes listing the specific items to pick up.
Pickup takes place in the Mabee Center on the CBC campus:
| Date | Time | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday, August 20, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. | Mabee Center |
| Monday, August 24, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. |
Mabee Center |
Bring a photo ID. If you need someone else to pick up for you, email us in advance with their name.
Need your books shipped instead? Online students, students who live out of the area, and anyone who cannot make either pickup window can have their printed materials shipped. Email jlove@textbookbrokers.com to make arrangements. Shipping charges are the student's responsibility.
Opting Out
Students who prefer to obtain their own course materials may opt out before the deadline.
Important: opting out is all or nothing. You cannot opt out of the materials for one course and remain in the program for your other courses - opting out removes you from the program for every course, and you become responsible for purchasing all of your own materials at retail prices.
Opt-outs are completed inside My Courses - the same place you access your materials. They are not submitted through this website.
1. Log in to Canvas and open any course.
2. Click Day One Access in the course menu to reach My Courses.
3. Click the Opt Out link and confirm.
Changed your mind? A Want to Opt In? button will appear, and you can rejoin any time before the deadline.

Which Courses Are Included?
All of them. Central Baptist College's Day One Access is an equitable access program. Every CBC course is part of it, and every required course material is covered. You do not need to check a list to find out whether your class participates. To see the specific materials adopted for your courses, log in to My Courses through Canvas, or look up your course at cbctextbooks.com. Some courses may have optional or supplemental items. These are not included in the program. Additionally, if the program contains a digital textbook but you want a print book instead, that is an additional fee.
